Free Ice Skating + Your Kid on the News = Newport Tree Lighting

BY Kathy Zucker • Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014

The Rockettes. Ice skating. Cookies and hot chocolate next to the rink. Your kid’s classmates telling him, “I saw you on TV!”

These are all things my children have experienced in the last year. And now, your child has a chance to experience them too. For the first time ever, the Newport tree team will be selecting a child to light the tree with Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop at the Newport, NJ tree lighting today, Tuesday December 2nd.

Bright lights. Cameras. A photo op with Olaf from Frozen. And after the tree lighting, hit the rink for an evening of fun with your family with free skating at Newport Skates plus al fresco cocoa and cookies from Morton Williams.

So strap on your skates and throw your kid’s name in the hat. Because magic is in the air tonight in downtown Jersey City. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at 100 Town Square Place. See you there along with News 12 New Jersey Sports Director Nick Meidanis!

Time for some #fencing cross-training in #JerseyCity.
