The sprinklers are on at Newport Green park!

In Jersey City across the street from Target. Transportation options: walk from Hoboken Lackawanna station waterfront connection, two-hour street meter parking, Light Rail to Newport Mall, or park at Morton Williams garage ($10 gets you two-hour garage validation).

$1 carousel rides + urban beach + sprinklers = summer in the city!

  1. Could you tell me why the sprinklers for the little children are not turned on until 12 Noon. Most parks put the sprinklers on at 9 O’ Clock.
Went to the park on May 30th at 10 O’ Clock with my two 2 years old in their bathing Suits and was told the sprinklers would not be on until 12 Noon. It was 90 Degree outside that day and the equipment in the park was too hot from the sun for children to play. This was very disappointing to the children. I had to leave it was too hot.

Linda, I reached out to my contact in the Lefrak organization to learn about the Newport Green sprinkler policy. The park policies in Jersey City tend to be different from those in Hoboken, and Newport Green tends to be even more different since it is managed by corporate vendors since the space is a partnership between public and private entities. Will post here when I learn more, thanks for writing in!

Got email from Lefrak re. Newport Green: “The water features are now operating from 10am-6pm. I believe the large bucket that fills up and spills water is under repair but was told everything was working properly now.”
